Connect the TM positive, motor positive and all electronics positives to battery one positive terminal. Connect motor negative, all electronics negative and battery two’s positive to battery ones negative. Connect battery two’s negative to battery three’s positive. Connect battery three’s negative to TM’s negative.
This will give you 36 volts to the Trolling Motor and 12 volts for all the electronics and cranking the motor. Since you need the cranking amps of a Dual Purpose, they all three should be dual purpose A lot of fairly serious anglers run this configuration while many of the pro’s will run three TM batteries plus the cranking battery because of the damands they put on them. If you think there is a possibilty you might decide to change to the four battery configuration, I would recommend going ahead and paying the extra bucks for the quad.

Many of us do padlock the trailer hitch lever down so it can not be disconnected from the ball. This can also be a good thing to get used to doing as it is a reminder to not forget to snap the lever down onto the ball. But what about securing the hitch extension into the bumper’s receiver? If you just use the original spring snap clip to hold the pin in place, it is rather easy to pull the pin, slide the trailer rearward enough to get the extension out of the receiver and then transfer the extension to a waiting vehicle that has the same commonly used receiver.
To prevent this, I have drilled my extension pin out enough to also accept a padlock bail, as shown in the photo below on the right.

You are correct, two batteries can provide both 24 Volts nominal , or 12 Volts nominal , depending on how they are wired. If the positive terminals are connected together same for the negative terminals, which are connected to ground, chassis, in modern vehicles , the system is a 12 Volt system. If one battery has its positive terminal connected to the negative terminal on the other, it is a 24 Volt system.
Of course, of the two remaining terminals, the “free” negative terminal is grounded connected to the chassis , and the “free” positive one is connected to the rest of the electrical system.
How to Wire a 24 Volt Trolling Motor
I know very little about electronics – just enough to get me in trouble I have a need for a small wireless video camera at our land in the middle of the woods no electricity. I’ve found a couple of “micro camera” that will run off a standard 9 volt battery, but they only last about 10 hours before the little battery runs out of juice. Is there a way I can run that camera off a volt car battery?
I was thinking that the car battery might last a couple of weeks before it needs recharging. The camera is suppose to run off 9 volts, though, and consumes mA and mW. Could I solder up some elctronics from, say, Radio Shack to have a car battery run the camera without frying it?

But like I said, I’m not going to hook up my cranking battery in series with a battery to troll with. That’s the only way I’d be able to get 24 volts back there. But the plates are thin. The plates inside a deep-cycle battery, on the other hand, are much thicker and coated with different materials, allowing them to accept and deliver a large amount of current over a long period of time.
It also means deep-cycle batteries can survive numerous cycles of charging and discharging. Starting batteries are not designed to do this.
